LOCAL MOVING SERVICE · M1–M23
Moving in Manchester? We help with city apartments, family homes, student moves, furniture, offices and longer relocations across the UK.
A lift booking in Ancoats, stairs in Fallowfield and a driveway in Didsbury are three very different moving days. Send the load and access details and we’ll match the van and crew to the real job.
★★★★★ 5.0 Trustpilot rating · clear written quotations · up to 4 movers
Quick answer
You can move only a couple of miles and still spend more time loading than driving. City-centre apartments, student houses and suburban family homes all have their own practical problems.
For Ancoats, Deansgate and the Northern Quarter, we want to know about service bays, lifts and building rules. For Fallowfield and Rusholme, stairs are often the bigger issue.
If the move is hard to describe, photos are ideal. Show us the main rooms and the entrance and we can usually recommend the van and mover count quickly.
Local Manchester
Apartments, converted mills, student houses, terraces and larger suburban homes all need different planning. We keep it practical: what is moving, where can the van stop and how far does everything have to be carried?
Deansgate, Castlefield and central towers can require lift booking, concierge coordination and service-bay access.
Northern Quarter and Ancoats can combine apartments, mill conversions and limited kerb space around busy streets.
Fallowfield, Rusholme and Withington often involve stairs, several rooms and busy changeover dates.
Didsbury, Chorlton and Wythenshawe can bring larger inventories, garages, garden items and dismantling.
What customers book
We handle small apartment moves, student rooms, full houses, furniture collections, offices and long-distance relocations from Manchester.
City apartments, terraces and family homes, including furniture, boxes, appliances and agreed dismantled items.
A practical option for sofas, beds, wardrobes, appliances and bulky purchases that need careful collection.
Student moves in Fallowfield, Rusholme and elsewhere can include boxes, bags, desks, monitors and bedroom furniture.
We move desks, chairs, screens, boxed stock and equipment for smaller office and workspace relocations.
Packing help and suitable furniture dismantling can be added when agreed before moving day.
Manchester to London, Liverpool, Leeds or elsewhere in the UK can be booked as one direct move.
Getting the van in
The M60, M56 and Mancunian Way handle the main journey. In the city itself, service bays, lifts, busy streets and parking restrictions are usually what decide how quickly the move can run.
Clear pricing
Rates depend on the van, mover count, working time and access. Your written quotation confirms the setup for your move.
£70/h with stairs. Good for smaller flat, room, furniture and storage moves.
£80/h with stairs. More load space for bulkier furniture and larger room moves.
£100/h with stairs. More carrying help while keeping the flexible LWB size.
£110/h with stairs. Best suited to larger household loads and heavier moving days.
Example moves
These are realistic example moves based on common local property and access patterns. They show how we would plan the job; they are not presented as customer records.
A sofa, two beds, dining furniture, TV unit and around 30 boxes from a managed apartment. The collection service bay and lift are booked before arrival; delivery has a driveway.
A smaller load with bed frame, desk, monitor, clothes, kitchen boxes and several bags. Collection involves stairs; the destination needs a timed city-centre loading point and lift access.
A larger household load with wardrobes, beds, white goods, dining furniture and garage boxes. Bulky items are photographed first so the crew can plan dismantling and loading order.
Choose enough space
Van size is based on the volume and shape of the load, not just the number of rooms. Send photos if you are unsure.
For Manchester, also think about the access route: the biggest van is not always the best choice if the street, bay or entrance makes it difficult to position. We balance capacity with practical loading access.
Boxes, bags, student moves and a limited number of furniture items.
A flexible option for room moves, smaller flats, furniture and storage runs.
More useful for larger household loads, bulky furniture and moves where a second trip would be inconvenient.
Four simple steps
A clear quote is easier when the route, load and access are known before the booking.
That information also helps us decide whether one mover is enough or whether two or more movers would reduce carrying time on stairs, longer walks or larger household loads.
Both postcodes, date and preferred time or arrival window.
Inventory, photos and dimensions for large or awkward items.
Floors, lift, stairs, driveway, parking and building instructions.
We confirm van, movers, rates and practical details in the written quotation.
Where next?
We cover Manchester and Greater Manchester locally, plus longer moves across the UK. These route and location pages may help if your destination is farther away.

Manchester moving questions
Yes. Tell us the floor, lift and loading arrangement. Many central buildings use service bays or booked lifts, so having that information in advance can save a lot of waiting.
Yes. Student moves can be a few boxes and bags or include a bed, desk and other furniture. Send a photo of the load if you are unsure which van is enough.
Yes. For larger homes, send room photos and include garage, loft and garden items. Those extras often make the difference between an LWB and a Luton.
Yes. We quote Manchester to London and other UK routes. Access at both addresses matters, so send destination parking details as well.
One mover can suit a light job with easy access. Two or more are normally better for stairs, longer carries, heavier furniture or a larger household load.
Both postcodes, date, the main furniture, rough box count and details of stairs, lifts, parking or service-bay access. Photos make the process much quicker.
Help with suitable furniture can be arranged when requested in advance. Send photos so enough time can be allowed and we can confirm what is practical. Wardrobes, bed frames, tables and similar items may need extra working time, and some furniture is not designed to be repeatedly dismantled, so advance photos are useful.
Both postcodes, moving date, inventory or photos, floor levels, lift information, parking notes and details of heavy or unusually large items. Add approximate dimensions for anything very large and tell us about long carries, narrow stairs or restricted entrances. The better the information, the less guesswork is built into the quotation.
Parking, permits, suspensions and similar access costs depend on the exact addresses. Tell us about restrictions when requesting the quote. Customers should check the signs and building rules at both properties and arrange any permit, bay suspension or access permission that is required before moving day.
Use our van-size guide or send photos and an inventory so we can recommend the most practical option. A Small Van suits compact loads, the 13 m³ LWB is flexible for many room and flat moves, and the 16 m³ Luton gives more space for larger household loads. Choosing enough capacity can be cheaper than needing an avoidable second trip.
