Agree the scope first
“Help with packing” can mean several different jobs
One customer may need ten boxes closed and labelled. Another may want kitchen contents packed, a bed dismantled and two wardrobes rebuilt after delivery. Describe the exact tasks so the quote allows realistic time rather than a vague allowance.
Furniture dismantling
Useful for bed frames, tables, desks and other furniture that is too large to move assembled. Send a photo and note any known brand or unusual fixing system.
Reassembly
If you want furniture rebuilt at the new address, say so explicitly. Make sure the destination room is ready and you know where each item should go before assembly starts.
Packing support
If you need help packing selected belongings, identify the rooms and item types. Fragile kitchenware takes different time and materials from books, clothes or already boxed items.

Important distinction
Moving work is not the same as specialist installation.
Some furniture and appliances need a qualified installer, electrician, plumber or manufacturer-approved technician. Describe anything unusual before the quote so we can confirm whether it fits the moving service.
Packing for transport
Good packing is about control, not just more cardboard
The aim is to make each item easy to identify, carry, stack and protect. Boxes that are too heavy or half open can slow loading and increase the chance of damage.
Books & dense items
Use smaller boxes and avoid overfilling. A large box of books can become much harder to handle safely than several smaller boxes.
Fragile items
Wrap and separate breakables so they do not move against each other. Mark the box clearly and tell us about delicate or high-risk pieces in advance.
Clothes & soft items
Bags can work for soft contents, but make sure they close securely and are easy to carry. Keep hanging garments organised if you need them quickly at the new address.
