We can quote for furniture collections, marketplace purchases, appliances, beds, sofas, tables and other bulky items. Dimensions, photos and access information matter because they help confirm whether the item will fit the van, doorway, lift and route through the property.
Furniture transport
Tell us about the item, not just the address
A furniture collection can look simple until the item reaches a narrow stairwell, a small lift or a doorway that needs the legs removed first. A few measurements before the job can prevent wasted time and failed collections.
Sofas & armchairs
Share the overall width, depth and height, and mention removable feet or sections. For large corner sofas, note whether the pieces separate and whether there are tight turns inside either property.
Beds & wardrobes
Bed frames, large wardrobes and flat-pack furniture may need dismantling before they can be moved safely. If you want that included, add it to the quote request rather than assuming it can be done within collection time.
Appliances & bulky purchases
For washing machines, fridges, cabinets and other heavy items, tell us the approximate dimensions and where the item sits. Two-person handling may be the sensible choice for heavier loads.

Five checks that prevent a wasted journey
- Measure the item at its widest and tallest points.
- Measure narrow doorways, lifts and difficult stair turns.
- Confirm the collection address and seller’s available time window.
- Check whether the item is already dismantled or needs tools.
- Tell us if parking is restricted at either end.
Van capacity
One item can still need a large van.
Length and shape matter as much as total volume. A long sofa or assembled wardrobe may not suit the smallest vehicle even when the overall load is light.

When a furniture removal service makes sense
Not every job is a house move. A smaller collection service is useful when the main challenge is safe handling and transport rather than the number of belongings.
Marketplace purchases
Buying from Facebook Marketplace, eBay or another seller? Send the seller’s postcode, the delivery postcode and the collection window. If the seller needs a fixed arrival time, mention that before the booking is agreed.
Storage collections
For a few pieces coming out of self-storage, estimate how much floor space the items occupy and whether trolleys or loading bays are available at the facility.
Moving one room
If the load is more than one item but much less than a full flat, this service can overlap with a student or room move. Send the full list so the quote reflects the complete load.

Price depends on the vehicle, moving help, time, journey and access. See our hourly rates as a starting point. Longer journeys can include mileage or a route-specific total.

Can you collect from a shop or marketplace seller?
Yes, subject to the agreed collection time. Provide the seller or store collection window and any reference needed to release the item.
What if the furniture does not fit through the door?
If it can be dismantled safely, that may solve the problem when agreed in advance. Measurements should be checked before collection to reduce this risk.
Can one mover handle the item?
That depends on weight, shape and access. Heavy or awkward items may require two movers even if there is only one item.
Do you move appliances?
Many household appliances can be transported, but they should be disconnected and prepared appropriately before collection unless another arrangement has been made.
Can I add several smaller items to the collection?
Yes, but list them before the quote is confirmed. Added items can change the van space and loading time needed.
Have an awkward item to collect?
