The directory points you to the official council responsible for parking, but the application still needs to match the street, date and vehicle access required for your move.
Check which authority controls the road
The borough usually manages ordinary local streets, but TfL controls red routes. Large estates and private developments can also have their own parking operator, so the council may not be the only organisation involved.
Search the council site using the right terms
Different boroughs use different wording. Look for “parking suspension”, “bay suspension”, “dispensation”, “waiver” or “removals parking”. If the site separates resident bays from yellow-line dispensations, choose the process that matches the actual stopping point.
Apply early
Notice periods vary and can increase around weekends or bank holidays. Once the move date is fixed, parking should be checked immediately rather than left until the final week.
Give enough location detail
Councils may ask for bay numbers, lamp-column references, property numbers or a diagram. A vague application can reserve the wrong part of the street and still leave the van far from the entrance.
Check the installed signs
If the council installs temporary suspension signs, check that they correspond with the confirmation and cover the correct dates and bays. Report a missing or incorrect sign before the moving day if possible.
